Joan Rachetto served as the Girls & Boys Golf Coach at LDHS from 1987 to 2013. Joan’s first year of coaching was on a trial basis: she received no salary and had 18 boys’ golfers for the fall season in 1987. The following year, it was determined that golf would be added as a sport at LDHS. Joan’s golf teams won a total of 22 Black Hills Conference titles, 16 Regional titles and 5 State titles. She was named BH Conference Coach of the Year 23 times and Region Coach 16 times. Joan was selected to the South Dakota High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020.
