Congratulations to Richard Elster (Class of 1957) and Frank Brust (Class of 1952) on being inducted into the 2025-26 Lead-Deadwood School District Hall of Fame! They will be honored at halftime of the basketball game on February 6th.


The Digger Basketball Teams host a doubleheader with STM tonight starting with JV @ 4pm!

The Lead-Deadwood Schools will have a 2-hour late start on Friday, January 16, 2026. There will be no morning activities.

The GBB game on Saturday, January 10th against Oelrichs will start at 1:00pm instead of 4:00pm. No JV game will be played, only varsity.
Water testing is now complete at all three Lead-Deadwood School buildings, and the water is turned back on. Employees can now access the buildings as needed, and regularly scheduled activities and practices can resume on Monday. We will send an update when test results are back. Thank you.
This is a reminder that the Lead-Deadwood Elementary School building in Deadwood and the Lead-Deadwood Middle School and High School buildings in Lead will be closed tonight and part of tomorrow for water testing. We will send another message when testing is complete. Thank you.

Dr. Person, Superintendent, will be hosting a Golddigger Community Coffee on Wednesday, December 10, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to discuss the school district's possibilities and opportunities for developing a portion of school owned land to increase workforce housing in our community and to create a housing option for staff members of the Lead-Deadwood School District. The public is invited to attend this event in the High School cafeteria in Lead. It will be an informal conversation and a chance for people to ask questions and give input. Coffee will be provided.

Sending out a reminder for the upcoming Winter Concert. The students have all been working hard and are going to sound great. Invite all of your friends and family.
Here is a reminder of the information about the dress code and concert attendance I sent out to everyone at the beginning of the school year.

Dress Code: Middle School
Concert Attire:
Each student will be responsible to have nice pants or skirt of a neutral color(Khaki, Black, Brown, Grey), Black socks, and a nice plain white shirt, either a button up or polo.
Dress Code: High School
Concert Attire:
Men: Each student will be responsible to have Black dress pants, Black socks, Black Dress Shoes and a Long Sleeve White Button Up Shirt. The school will provide Bow Ties and Tux Jackets.
Women: Will be responsible to have either:
a. Semi-formal Black Dress, At least knee length, not low cut and sleeves to at least half way between elbow and shoulder. Black shoes that are no more than 3 inch heels.
b. A Semi-formal Black Skirt and top that meets the above criteria. Black shoes that are no more than 3 inch heels.
c. A female singer may choose to wear the tux attire, but will then be required to have the “Men’s” required items.
Concert Attendance Policy:
All concerts are mandatory for everyone. There will be two concerts for Middle School and four concerts for High School this year, as well as singing for district music festival. Only extreme family or medical emergencies will be excused, and for either, I will need proof. Either a doctor's note, funeral bulletin or some other official documentation will be accepted.
